Guitar Battle

Guitar Battle

The Guitar Battle is back! Show people what you can do with a guitar on stage, no matter your guitar skills! This time, we invite students AND teachers to the challenge of becoming the second Hero of the Storm!
Participation fee is 2 euros per player, you’ll get a free drink and a plectrum. The winner will be awarded a special price. Registration can be done at the CEST Lounge or by writing an e-mail to juju@cest.lu.

FREE ENTRY for those who don’t want to participate! The battle will be streamed live on a big screen. The shouting crowd will choose the winner after each duel! The bigger the crowd, the better the ambiance! Food and drinks are organized for your enjoyment.

May the power of Rock and Metal be with you!

Infos for the contenders:

You have to bring your own guitar! Effect pedals and other gadgets are allowed for extra awesomeness! We will provide the amplifiers and a guitar cable.

Rules:

1. First round (duel by elimination): each participant has to play 60 to 90 seconds of known music against his/her opponents. It can also be a medley of several known songs. No freestyle.
2. Second round: Same as the first round. The winners of the first round will battle each other.
3. Semi-final: The winners of the last battle will have to perform a freestyle concert. You will be playing against your opponent on a given backing track (drums) for a duration of about 4 minutes. After each minute, the guitar players switch over, which gives a playing duration of 2 minutes per guitarist. The played songs can be various known songs or a complete personalized jam, as long as you keep the beat.
4. Final: The two finalists will have to perform like in the semi-final, this time for a duration of 6 minutes to end the quest!


The Language Café

Moien, Bonjour, Guten Tag, Buongiorno…If you are interested in languages, join us at The Language Café! Learn new words, play multilingual Scrabble or simply exchange with other students in a cosy and warm atmosphere. We also organize pancakes and drinks. All languages are welcome!
The event is open for all students of the University of Luxembourg. It will take place on 4th of November in Room C18 at Campus Kirchberg, from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Kicker Tournament

The first Kicker Tournament of this year will take place on the 20th of October at Salle Paul Feidert on Campus Kirchberg, from 6:00 pm until 10:30 pm.
Be ready for a great evening centered around the popular table-top game! In addition to the tournament, a barbecue stand and a bar will provide you with all the necessary energy nedded for the Kicker experience!

Blacklight Invasion @ Choco

After a huge success of the two last editions, the CEST Blacklight invasion party is back! The 16th of October, we are going to pump it up with one of the greatest studentparties of the year!

The entrance is free and doors will open at 8 pm. If you come early, we will let you glow in a unique atmosphere of blacklights by handling out some accessories and UV body paint. Drinks like Electrifying Blue Margaritas and Burning Red Shots will gleam in tons of sparkling blacklights and flashing fluorescence! So dress up in your craziest fluo outfit and join us all for an amazing night of partying!


Gaming Night Number 1 2015-2016

The CEST is organising its first LAN-party for this academic year! The event goes under the motto BYOS (Bring your own stuff), for those who’d like to play their own computer games. For the rest, we will provide consoles and cardboard games. If you want to bring your personal computer, let us know by sending an e-mail at info@cest.lu to reserve a port on the switch.

The Gaming Night will take place on the 9th October in the Room Paul Feidert at Campus Kirchberg, from Friday 6 pm until Saturday 6 am. So, be prepared for a whole night of card and boardgames and video games, including tournaments and dinner!

The CEST is organising with the LF, ESN, ELSA and many other friends and partners a party in Esch, Place de L’Hotel de Ville-Sur-Alzette!

Gaming Night Number 1 2015

The CEST is organising a LAN party on the 13th March 2015 in campus Kirchberg, salle Paul Feidert. The event starts at 6PM and will last all night long until saturday 6AM. The CEST will organise a pizza delivery around 7:45, so be there to order your pizza.
All the games can be played! The LAN-Party is BYOS(Bring your own stuff) based, but we will organise some console and cardboard games. Note that if you want to bring your personal computer, drop us a mail at info@cest.lu to reserve a port on the switch.

We are organising a SUPER SMASH BROTHERS WII U tournament on the big screen, starting at 22:00! Come see us for registration prior to the start of the event! You can also drop us a mail, just make sure you are there at 22:00 ;).

Kicker Tournament 2015

The CEST is organising a kicker tournament on the 25th March 2015 in campus Kirchberg.

CEST Party Blacklight Invasion @ Choco

Ladies and gentlemen, fellow students.

We have to admit that we have been quiet for a few years, but that’s over now! CEST is back… and it’s organising its third edition of the infamous CEST Blacklight Invasion party. Join us in CHOCO @ Hollerich on the 27th of March for one of the greatest student parties of the year. Doors will open at 8 PM.
The motto of the night: Blacklight Invasion. The room will be in a unique atmosphere with tons of blacklights and fluorescent decoration. Moreover, special drinks will be provided such as electrifying blue Margaritas and burning red shots! We will also be handing out some accessories and UV body paint to people who show up early. So dress up in your craziest fluo outfit and join both foreign and local students for an amazing night of partying. Entrance is of course for free!

CEST Guitar Battle

CEST is organizing a Guitar battle! Join us on the 15th April 2015 at the Campus Kirchberg, in room Paul Feidert.
Every student is invited to bring his own guitar and might in a quest to become the first Hero of the Storm. May the power of Rock and Metal be with you.
BBQ, draft beer and other drinks will all be organised by the CEST during the evening for your enjoyment
Each participant wins a plectrum.
The winner will be awarded a bigger price as well.
Amplifiers will be provided.
The battle will be streamed live on a big screen.

Rules:

1. First round (duel by elimination): each participant has to play 30 to 60 seconds of known music against his/her opponents. It can also be a medley of several known songs. No freestyle.

2. Second round (if necessary): Same as first round. The winners of the first round will battle each other.

3. Semi-final: The winners of the last battle will now have to perform a freestyle part in addition to their known part. The freestyle part does also have a duration of 30 to 60 seconds.

4. Final: The two finalists will have to play the usual known part, the freestyle part and added to the lot they now have to play a 30 – 60 second part of the song “Fury of the Storm” by Dragonforce for ending the quest.

5. Note:

Participation fee is 2 euros per guitar player, you’ll get a free drink and a plectrum. Those who don’t participate on stage are free to join the show and support the contenders. The shouting crowd will choose the winner after each duel !
